Sometimes It Just Doesn't Feel Christmasy
I’m Taking a Holiday from Christmas!
In reflection, I have noticed a pattern of getting stressed and depressed around the Holiday Season. I am consciously changing that pattern NOW! I am aware of any thoughts that come up that may trigger negative emotional patterns.
I notice that Christmas music can trigger old memories that bring me down. I quickly take a look at that before I repeat old behaviors. I check into my heart, comfort myself, and remind myself that old beliefs that hurt me are unhelpful.
As I start my Christmas shopping, I do so from a new perspective. I ensure that I have plenty of time to get the shopping done in a timely manner. I may even decide to shop online to reduce stress and mailing costs.
This year I got immediate family members just
one gift a piece and called it a holiday.
Whatever it takes to make my holiday season go
smoothly, I am willing to make the adjustments.
I look
at what traditions I want to keep and which ones fail to serve me. With the world as it is today, I let go of old, worn out traditions. I
adjust to the new reality.
I look at what I can do differently to take a
holiday from the Holidays. I may treat myself to a massage or a facial. I may
get a pedicure or have an entire Spa Day. And to tell the truth… I bought
myself a cricket label maker, coach slides, two belts, slippers, and a
stainless steal garbage can for my kitchen.
I
reduce the stress by letting go of laborious tasks that are unnecessary. I reduce my holiday baking. I let go of excess Christmas card writing.
I am willing to let go of unnecessary spending.
Today, regardless of what it takes, I am
taking a holiday from the Holidays of the past and creating enjoyable,
stress-free traditions.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1.
What will it take to reduce
unnecessary stress during the
Holidays?
2.
Where can I cut back on
unnecessary spending and time wasters?
3. What will I do to take a holiday from the Holida
